Opened by the Greek captain Asteri Dulidis in 1890 in Çıfıtçı Çarşısı, Agora Tavern takes its name from the Greek word for “square”. Known in a short time for its giant barrels and wines used instead of tables, the tavern has been operated by the Dulidis family for 3 generations… Nowadays, it continues in partnership with journalist Ersin Kalkan, director Ezel Akay, Deniz Sevinç and Chronis Pechlivanidis.
Agora Tavern, which has been the subject of many poems and songs, has hosted many artists and Yeşilçam stars over the years. 286 local films were shot here as well. Since its establishment, that is, over 100 years, memories have accumulated on its walls. The agora tavern inspired songs, poems, art and artists.
