Cendere Hamidiye Pumping Station, one of the historical industrial buildings of Istanbul, is one of the components of the network called Hamidiye Waters and built during the reign of 2nd Abdulhamid. The few industrial structures that have survived to a large extent by preserving their original state began to serve in 1902.
Cendere Hamidiye Pumping Station, whose construction process and features are known in detail, is 34 meters above sea level and consists of 2 water tanks and a pump room. In the main building that has survived from the pump station; There is a large hall, which is entered through two winged iron doors. on After enter the large hall; one side boiler room and coal storage, on the other side are the manager, the working rooms and the repair shop exist.
İBB Heritage realized the project in order to bring this historical industrial heritage to the use of the city and to reveal its historical value and unique architectural qualities together with its surroundings. Restoration practices of historical buildings and landscaping of the entire area have been completed.
Cendere Art, with its main exhibition hall, library and Beltur Cafe garden, opened its doors to its visitors not only as a culture and art but also as a living space.
“The Flow of Water” exhibition on water and the environment, prepared by 22 artists, will remain open until April 20, 2023.
