Büyükada Ecotourism Area (Ecological Tour Road)

Büyükada is the largest member of the island group called “The Princes’ Islands”, which consists of 9 islands of Istanbul province.

It is one of the closest alternatives for Istanbul residents to escape from the city and hosts many local and foreign tourists, especially in the summer months.

It has become an important place for photography and nature enthusiasts with its forest existence, Being a transitional climate between the Mediterranean and Black Sea climates has generated huge diversity of flora.

The first of the Nature Walking Routes starts from the Lunapark Square and goes up to the Aya Yorgi Monastery (Church) and its length is 1 km. The second route starts from the same square and continues around Yücetepe, located in the southern part of the island, its total length is 4.5 km. You can see red pine, olive trees and arbutus on the road route. If you are here in autumn, you can taste mountain strawberries, the fruit of arbutus. In terms of wildlife, the Common Pheasant(Phasianus colchicus) has been placed in this region by General Directorate Of Nature Conservation And National Parks.
