Emirgan is one of the most beautiful groves of Istanbul with its tulip gardens, mansions and unique Bosphorus view. The grove, which takes on a different beauty every season, and the riot of colors created by thousands of tulips, is the good news of spring in Istanbul. Emirgan Grove, which was called Kiparodis (Kyparodes) in the Byzantine period, that is, “cypresses”, begins in the middle of the 16th century. First, a mansion was built in the region, which was given as a gift to Feridun Bey, one of the gunners of Grand Vizier Sokollu Mehmet Pasha. The grove, which was previously known as Feridun Gardens, began to be called Emirgune Grove. The name Emirgune turns into Emirgan over time. The name of the district is also known as Emirgan. The grove, which changed hands many times over the centuries, was given to the Egyptian Khedive Ismail Pasha by the Ottoman Sultan Abdulaziz in the 19th century. Between 1871 and 1878, 3 pavilions were built in the grove. These mansions, which have survived to the present day, are called the Yellow Mansion, the Pink Mansion and the White Mansion. Emirgan Grove, which has an area of 472 decares, is the most popular recreation area of Istanbul. Protect; Nightingales, thousands of flowers and more than 120 tree species continue to attract local and foreign tourists today.
Emirgan Grove has also hosted the Istanbul Tulip Festival, which has been held in April every year since 2006.
